The visitors picked up all three points on a cold night at Ashton’s, as the Woods lose their final home game of the year in disappointing fashion…

Stansted started the game on top and capitalised on a Woodford error in the final third. One long ball over the top saw Michael Mignot through on goal and he slotted it under Jake Haskins to give the Airport Army the lead after 22 minutes.

Woodford responded well but couldn’t find an equaliser in the remainder of the first half, so went into the break a goal down. Whatever was said by manager Shane Baptiste was thrown entirely out the window as 2 minutes into the second half, the visitors doubled their lead through Andre Embalo – his outside-of-the-box effort finding the top corner.

The response to conceding was once again good from the Woods as they pushed for a way back into the game. Just 9 minutes later, it came through Luke Parrott, who continued his unreal goal-scoring form this season. Dimi Christou’s pass squirmed through to Parrott who slotted it under the onrushing James Dillon from an angle, 2-1 and game on!

The goal didn’t faze the visitors; they continued to press on to seal the game and did just that. A Stansted corner went all the way to the back post where John Clarke was unmarked and his volley found the bottom corner, seeing the Airport army restore their 2-goal advantage. Woodford had chances to try and find a way to get back into the game but they were unable, meaning they succumbed to a second loss in their last two matches.

Once again, we thank you all for your continued support of the team and we promise you it certainly doesn’t go unnoticed.

Wishing all Woodford fans a merry Christmas and we hope to see as many of you as possible at the Roding Valley Derby away game against Buckhurst Hill on the 28th 7:45pm at Roding Lane.
