The Woods will be disappointed after last night conceding a last minute equaliser to a resilient Halstead Town. The Woods failed to capitalise on the chance to go 2nd, and make it eleven wins on the bounce.
Woodford started the game very slowly, however did have good opportunities early on. The Woods faithful remained in good voice through a slow first quarter in terms of clear cut opportunities and chances to score.
The breakthrough came in the thirteenth minute, advantage Woodford! A lovely piece of build up play from Shaun Baptiste’s men saw Luke Parrott break the deadlock, and it seemed Woodford were on their way to another win.
9 minutes later The Woods had a goal disallowed. The home crowd were not best pleased. Despite this, the home side kept pressing for a second.
A mix up at the back saw the away side equalise in the 31st minute, despite continued pressure from the woods for a second. The defence will be dissatisfied with how the away side slipped in, and took advantage of some poor organisation.
An absolutely fantastic move in the second half saw Woodford back ahead. 64 minutes were on the clock when the home side regained the lead after some impressive link up play once again. The woods seemed destined for eleven on the bounce.
Halstead wouldn’t be beaten though. In the dying seconds, a cross field ball after sustained away pressure lead to the equaliser. The home side and the fans were going crazy at the referee, in the firm belief the game should’ve stopped ages ago. The woods will be extremely frustrated. However they remain on course for their target of promotion this term.
Thank you for your incredible support once again, we cannot thank you all enough and hope to see as many of you as possible when we return to action next time!
COME ON YOU WOODS!
