Woodford Town came into the last league game of the season, away to Ilford, having secured third place but with a mountain to climb to make second. We trailed Romford by 3 points, after drawing with them on Wednesday, while also having a goal difference of 3 to overturn leaving an almost impossible task. Almost being the operative word as the Woods came away 4-2 winners after trailing twice while Romford fell to a 3-1 defeat at home to Halstead. This meant that Gokou's dramatic 88th minute goal was enough to give us a +1 goal difference and to leapfrog Romford into second place which is the clubs best ever finish.
