INTERVIEW | Miles Mitchell-Nelson and James Jewers

Harrison Nathan9 Mar - 17:40

Miles Mitchell-Nelson and James Jewers spoke to us after Friday's victory.

Following our 4-1 comeback win over Benfleet on Friday night, we caught up with Player of the Match Miles Mitchell-Nelson and midfielder James Jewers on pitch side to discuss the game's events.

Miles, who scored a brace making it his fifth goal in as many games, was awarded the Player of the Match award by Manger Shane Baptiste and was elated in the immediate aftermath of the result.

Speaking to us, the right-back said it's "all about wanting to win the ball. You know, it's just commitment, you've got to have the passion. We know we can score from corners. We've done routines, we have many routines to score. But yeah, you just have to be committed to score. Recently, you know, we've just been scoring goals from set-pieces."

After a lacklustre first-half performance, the showing after the interval was far better and proved on the pitch too, with The Woods turning around a one-goal deficit to win by four goals to one.

We asked James Jewers what was said by the boss at the break.

"They had a sin-bin just before half-time, so ten men, we need we just had to be patient. To be honest we had all the ball in the first half, they scored, one shot, one goal. So we just knew to be patient, that was the main thing. We were playing well. We just didn't have much success going forward.

"They had a real deep low block, so for us, we had to go down the sides. Move it quickly, as soon as we got down the sides we have to flood the box, and that's what we did. When we have a delivery, like Miles, you have to get men in the box to get on the end of it and that's what we did. Obviously, we scored from a few corners, but we were just putting the pressure on for the full second half."
