We preview our Peter Butcher Memorial Trophy tie with Takeley.

Woodford Town host Takeley for the second time in the 2024/25 campaign, having already beaten them when the two sides met in the Essex Senior League in September, with David Gokou's 19th-minute strike proving to be the difference.

The Woods

Shane Baptiste's side have not lost in three matches, having beaten Ilford, Buckhurst Hill and Hullbridge Sports in the last ten days, scoring eight goals and conceding just one in the process!

They tasted success in the Errington Challenge Cup last week, reaching the Quarter Finals with a 3-0 win away at local rivals Buckhurst Hill, and will be looking to replicate that feat this evening. In the Peter Butcher Memorial Trophy, Woodford reached the semi finals last season, and will be looking to reach that mark, at the very least, this season.

Our visitors

Takeley are in the form of their life right now, as they are currently in the midst of a run which has seen them lose just one game in their previous thirteen outings, ahead of their visit to Woodford this evening.

In the Errington Challenge Cup, they find themselves in the same position as The Woods, as they are currently awaiting a date for their Quarter Final tie to be confirmed, however, in this competition they have not won since they defeated little Oakley 3-0 in December 2022.

Match details

This cup tie will take place at Ashton's Stadium - IG8 8AA.

Proceedings will get underway at 19:45 GMT, however, fans are reminded that there is the possibility of a penalty shootout this evening, should the scores remain level after ninety minutes - there will be no extra time.

Tickets have been discounted for this fixture, with adult tickets costing £5 whilst concessions and under 16's will gain FREE admission!
