The Woods secure another cup victory!

Second half goals from David Gokou and Ernest Okoh secured a 2-0 victory for Woodford Town against Takeley on Wednesday night, meaning they progress into the Quarter Finals of the Peter Butcher Memorial Trophy.

In the first half, it was a cagey affair, with neither side having many big chances. However, there was one golden opportunity for the hosts to take the lead in the 35th minute. Nathan Sollosi drove towards goal and had his shot saved by Jarvis Monk, and Jayden Charles saw his rebound cannon off the post and away from danger.

After the interval, The Woods came out flying, and had a number of chances to take the lead, before a moment of magic from David Gokou propelled Woodford to victory.

The winger sped towards goal, cut inside and lobbed a shot over Monk and into the bottom corner in the 70th minute. Just four minutes later, the victory was sealed. Half time substitute Ernest Okoh, making his second debut in a yellow and blue shirt, smashed an effort across goal and into the side netting to make it 2-0.

Woodford will now face Hullbridge Sports away in the Quarter Finals.
