A stoppage-time winner rounded off a fantastic comeback for the Woods, on a special Friday night at Ashton’s!

The hosts dominated the majority of the first half, however, they were stunned when ‘The Acorns’ took the lead in the 42nd minute. Dan Rowe cutting across the ball from around 25 yards out and plucking out the far bottom corner.

The players clearly noted what Shane Baptiste said to his boys at halftime as they came out all guns blazing after the break. Six minutes of sheer dominance saw Woodford win a corner – Nicolaou played a short corner before receiving the ball again, and he fired a low cross into the box where Ope Mosuro was waiting to strike home and make it 1-1!

Woodford continued to push for a winner, but with twenty-two minutes left on the clock, Dan Rowe struck again to put the visitors ahead. The hosts didn’t let this get the better of them though and carried on their fight back. With 76 minutes played, Guy Kiangebeni squirmed the ball over the line after a goalmouth scramble to kickstart an incredible comeback.

One minute into stoppage time, Luke Parrott received the ball on the edge of the box and with some quick feet managed to find some space on the byline – his cross fizzed towards Wale Odedoyin, who from one yard out tapped home to win it for Woodford!

An incredible atmosphere at Ashton’s, thank you all for your tremendous support and we go again at home on Wednesday night against Halstead Town.
