Woods go marching on!

Friday 17th March 2023 | @ Ashton Stadium | 7:45 pm kick off | Attendance: 192

Woodford Town 2 – 0 White Ensign
Woodford Scorers: Ernest Okoh 27′ & 33′
Report By Harrison Nathan

The Woods marched on to ten wins in a row, as a first half brace from Ernest Okoh saw Shane Baptiste’s men climb up to 3rd in the Essex Senior League table!

Woodford started the game very slowly, however did have a good opportunity with 14 minutes on the clock. Jaedon Phillips juggling the ball past 3 defenders before seeing his effort saved by Shamshoum in the White Ensign goal.

The breakthrough came just before the half-hour mark as Kirwan-Meade’s long throw was flicked on by Lee Sharpe towards Ernest Okoh who managed to turn the ball into the back of the net, advantage Woodford!

The attacker was amongst the goals again just 13 minutes later. Luke Parrott with some unbelievable skill to beat his man in a tight angle on the byline before, he then smashed it across the face of goal where Okoh was there to tap home for 2-0!

A very quiet second half saw the visitors try and carve a way back into the game, however they were unable to find any openings and fell to defeat at Ashton’s.

An absolutely HUGE win for the Woods, who keep up their push towards a play-off spot with only 8 league games remaining…

Thank you for your incredible support once again, we cannot thank you all enough and hope to see as many of you as possible when we return to action against Halstead Town next Friday night (19:45 kick off).
