In a dramatic encounter at Ashton’s Stadium, Woodford Town claimed a remarkable 4-3 victory over West Essex in front of a passionate crowd of 89 spectators.

Woodford Town started the game brightly, but it was West Essex who took the lead in the 19th minute through Ezgquiel Franchi, then, in the 27th minute West Essex went 2-0 up via another Franchi goal. The Woods were a little shell-shocked. Things went from bad to worse when The Woods were reduced to ten men in the 31st minute when Captain Georges Kebi was sent off after receiving two yellow cards in quick succession. However, the home side refused to let this setback deter them and kept pushing forward.

Their persistence paid off in the 35th minute when Jaedon Phillips netted to close the deficit down to one goal, sparking wild celebrations among the home fans. The celebrations were short-lived though as West Essex quickly restored their two-goal lead with Woodford giving away a penalty, which was despatched with aplomb by Reece Clarke on 58 minutes.

Despite being down to ten men, Woodford Town still refused to give up and kept pushing forward and their persistence paid off in the 72nd minute when Luke Parrott scored his 20th of the season with a stunning finish to reduce the deficit to just one goal. 2-3, Game On!

Woodford continued to battle and were rewarded for their efforts. As the game entered the final minutes, the boys in yellow showed incredible spirit. Wale Odedoyin equalized for the home side in the 87th minute, sparking crazy celebrations among the crowd, who by the way, are the best fans in the League bar none.

The drama didn’t end there, oh no, Simon Omope popped up to score a dramatic last-minute winner for Woodford Town in the 90th minute, securing a remarkable 4-3 win for the home side. Despite conceding two goals earlier in the game, Woodford Town remained calm and composed and showed incredible resilience and fighting spirit.

The victory marks Woodford Town’s eighth consecutive win, highlighting the team’s exceptional form. Despite being down to ten men, they showed incredible resilience and fighting spirit to come back and claim the win.

Ashton’s Stadium once again proved to be an excellent venue for football, with the passionate home crowd keeping their team going even when they were 3-1 down. Overall, it was an enthralling match and a great advertisement for non-league football. The promotion push is still on!

COME ON YOU WOODS!
